One more step closer to civilization: We are now on Barrow time. The switch occurred yesterday with a long night ending with two breakfasts, one at one at UTC 08:00 am (=0:00 local time) and the second one at 08:00 am local time. The first one was officially declared “a light breakfast”, but from the selection of food it felt more like a midnight meal than a breakfast.

The evening before we had our official “end of cruise dinner”, with good food, a bit of dressing up, some speeches, a musical performance by Marcus, Célia and Ksenia and as the highlight of the evening: A polar bear coming really close to the ship and hanging around for a few hours. The timing was almost too perfect to be true, our visitor was spotted on the starboard side of the ship when everyone had gathered in the
lounge room for the music, so it was just a short way to rush out and watch the show he or she put up for us.

But who is watching whom here?
